Put Pork on Your Fork

BBQ bacon beans

Smoked bacon and beans in a spicy BBQ style sauce

Preparation time: 10 minutes

Ingredients:

250g Smoked lower salt bacon
2 celery sticks diced
1 small onion diced
1 red pepper diced
1 garlic clove crushed
1 teaspoon chilli powder
500g tomato passata
3 tablespoons maple syrup
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 tin borlotti beans
1 tin haricot beans

Instructions:
  1. Dice the bacon and cook in a dry pan on a medium heat until crispy, remove and set to one side
  2. In the same pan add the onion, celery, pepper, chilli powder and garlic and cook on a medium heat for 10 minutes until the vegetables are softened.
  3. Add the tomato passata, maple syrup, Worcestershire sauce and bacon and stir well
  4. Rinse the beans and add to the pan, bring to the boil and simmer for 10 minutes.
  5. Serve over jacket potatoes
