Salt, Pepper and Chilli Pork

Belly slices with a sweet and sticky soy and honey glaze…

Preparation time: 1 hour 30 minutes Allow at least 4 hours marinading

Serves: 3- 4 as main or 5-6 as starter

800g of Belly pork Slices
50ml Dark Soy Sauce
100ml Honey
1-2 Chopped Red Chillies – more if you like it Hot!!
8 x Spring Onions Sliced
Salt and Cracked Black Pepper
70g Brown Sugar

  1. For the marinade – Mix together the Dark Soy sauce, Brown Sugar, Chopped Chillies, Spring onions and the Honey. Place the belly slices into marinade and leave in the fridge for at least 4 hours.
  2. Remove the pork from the marinade (reserve marinade for use later) and place onto a roasting tray and sprinkle with Salt and Cracked Black Pepper. Cook in a pre-heated oven at 165c fan/ 185c non fan for 45-55 minutes.
  3. At this stage take the belly slices out of the oven and pour over the remaining marinade. Place back into the oven and continue to cook until the marinade coats the ribs and becomes all sticky, keep checking on the ribs occasionally and turning them in the marinade.
  4. Serve as a mouth-watering starter with a simple salad or as part of a Chinese banquet.
